Our Nature Park

Benwell Nature Park was established in the 1980s. It was one of the first urban nature parks in the U.K. Nearly 50 years later, the site has become a piece of countryside in the heart of Benwell.

We have recenty partnered with the National Education Nature Park programme with the aim to empower our children and young people to make a positive difference to both their own and nature's future.

The benefits to our children are:

Build a connection to nature through discovery and learning
Improve physical and mental wellbeing through spending time outdoors
Feel empowered to voice their concerns and gain the vital skills needed to take action for their future

And to nature:

New or improved green spaces in education settings across England for nature to thrive
Contribute to real scientific research into nature recovery, and boost biodiversity locally and across the country
Promotes caring for nature across generations
